Retirement Committee Training has Gone Virtual
for Retirement Committee Education
The demand for education by 401(k) and 403(b) plan sponsors is growing exponentially — accelerated by concerns about fiduciary liability, growing DOL and IRS scrutiny, the rash of lawsuits and retirement readiness. The Plan Sponsor University (TPSU) has conducted over 400 half-day education programs since May 2013 with over 8,000 individuals involved with managing their DC Plans.
While HR and finance professionals regularly attend TPSU programs, very few plan sponsors are able to send their entire retirement committee. Most committee members have little to no experience or training even though they have personal liability over decisions they make. Virtual training sessions are scheduled to meet the busy schedule of you and your Committee members.
To meet demand, TPSU has launched Virtual Retirement Committee Education (TRCE) for DC plan sponsors.
Plan sponsors may review the 3 online courses, a $395 value, for 90 days at no obligation after the 60-minute customized virtual educational session. These courses, which are approved for SHRM & HRCI Re-certification credits cover:
- Why DC plan sponsors should have a Retirement Committee
- How to form and empower the Committee
- Who should sit on the Committee
- What are their functions and responsibilities
- Best practices

Become a Trained Retirement Committee Educator
Trained Retirement Committee Educators (TRCErs) will deliver TRCE education in person using authorized material. TRCE will be marketed directly to plan sponsors through 401kTV which reaches over 55,000 HR & finance executives daily. TRCErs will be assigned to those interested.
To conduct TRCE education sessions, advisors must receive training and either hold the C(k)P Designation or be enrolled to attend C(k)P Training at UCLA within 12 months.
TRCE will partner with DC wholesalers to provide training to advisors. TPSU has educated over 6,000 401(k) & 403(b) plan sponsors since 2013 and continues to train around 1,500 plan sponsors annually both in-person and virtually.
